Easy Thanksgiving Cupcake Toppers

After posting my Buttermilk Spice Cupcakes With Maple Cream Cheese Frosting earlier today, I thought I would share some super simple Thanksgiving decor to top them! These cupcake toppers were made from only 2 ingredients; caramels and tootsie rolls! I made them out of some extra candy I had from my Pumpkin Pop and Pilgrim Pop tutorials. They are so incredibly easy, and take any Thanksgiving dessert to the next level in cuteness. You can use them to top cupcakes, like I did, or even use them to top your pumpkin pie, or Thanksgiving desserts, for a sweet festive touch.

Easy Chocolate Caramel Thanksgiving Cupcake Toppers

You will need
  • tootsie rolls
  • caramels

Chocolate Caramel Acorns

Directions
  1. Using the heat of your hands, sculpt tootsie roll into 2 stems and 2 disks for the top of the acorns. Create the body of each acorn out of 1 caramel square.
  2. Push the body of the acorn into the tootsie roll top.
  3. Poke a hole on top, with a toothpick or cake tester
  4. Push stem into hole

Chocolate Caramel Turkeys

Directions
  1. Make 2 balls out of tootsie roll, using 1/2 of a tootsie roll to create a small ball, and 1 1/2 tootsie rolls to create a larger ball.
  2. Create a tiny beak out of caramel by rolling a small piece in between your thumb and index finger. Make the feathers by rolling a ball out of caramel and flattening it. Cut out a flower shape with a small cookie cutter, scissors, or your fingers.
  3. Place the small tootsie roll ball on top of the larger ball, using the caramel to stick them together. Stick the beak on to the head. Using a toothpick or cake tester, poke 2 eyes.
  4. Stick the feathers to the back of your turkey.

Chocolate Caramel Pilgrim Hats

Directions
  1. Flatten one tootsie roll into a disk for the brim of the hat. Roll a second tootsie roll into the top of the hat.
  2. Using the caramel, create a thin rope to go around the hat, and a tiny square for the buckle.

  1. Great idea using caramel and Tootsie Rolls instead of fondant to make figures to decorate a cupcake. I'm sure your little figures taste great and they are just so cute.

Oh my goodness how cute, and awesome that you only need those two candies.
